Roy Maxwell Surprise Birthday Party Ends With Oyster Bill
Roy Maxwell, known as a prankster, hosted a February 6 gathering for his 40th birthday. Ivah Clapp and friends surprised him with a feast of 10 gallons of oyster soup and a bill of about $6 for oysters he had previously used in a trick. Sunshine Worker's Club Meeting Highlights
The Sunshine Worker's Club gathered with Mrs. Herbert Coram on Wednesday February 7 for an all day session. Members quilted on a pretty hos tess quilt but left early due to family sickness. The meeting opened with a song and roll call via whistling favorite tunes. A noon covered dish luncheon was served and all did ample jus.

The Linn County Extension Office reports an average of seven contracts per home in January, mainly for the corn hog program. Agent Hall held 38 meetings, welcomed 551 callers, and estimates February will bring many more contacts as 50 Township Committee members aid outreach to complete signups. Leaders conducted 41 meetings with 781 present, and 11 342 circular letters were mailed.
