Mary Jane Vaughn 1835 1911 Died at 75 in Missouri

Mary Jane Vaughn born in West Virginia August 12 1835 died February 3 1911 aged 75 years 5 months 21 days. She married Alexander Clevenger April 12 1858 Greensborough Pennsylvania, had ten children eight surviving. Funeral by Rev Hoov er at Asbury church. Burial near ice. Survived by eight children in Missouri and Idaho and Oregon. Her first husband died thirteen years before and second husband two years before. She was a loving mother Christian neighbor and beloved by all.

State House in Jefferson City Destroyed by Fire

Lightning struck Missouri's state house around 7 p.m. today burning the wooden tower and interior. The Senate chamber walls remain only, while the House offices and governor’s and secretary of state rooms were lost. Firefighters fought flames with no insurance coverage, fearing total loss of records. The building, begun in 1838 and remodeled later, housed a million-dollar plus loss and spurred plans for a more imposing structure.

Mrs Mary G McClanahan Kirby was born Jan 8 1827 near Huntsville Randolph County Missouri and died Feb 4 1911 at Browning Linn County Missouri at her daughter Mrs Jas Neet home aged 84 years 27 days. She married James C McClanahan Feb 8 1858 and had eight children four surviving: T J McClanahan Gifford Mo C C McClanahan Zouchet Washington Mrs James Neet Browning Mo and Mrs H A Anspach Gifford Mo. James C McClanahan died Feb 4 1871. Sister Owens later cared for her mother. Funeral Feb 6 at 2 30 p m at home conducted by Elder J W Davis Kirksville Mo. Burial Jenkins Cemetery.
