Weather cut Missouri wheat seeding by half leaving 1.5 million acres idle with 5 million dollars in labor costs. Oats barley corn and soybeans may fill the gap as spring wheat trials continue at the Missouri College of Agriculture.
A flock of 158 young turkeys at the Missouri College of Agriculture in Columbia reached 24 pounds per bird as they mature in a 2 acre enclosure. In one week they gained 198 pounds, raising cash value by 69.30 at 35 cents per pound. They access self feeders with a bran mix and sour meal and twice daily grain feed.
