The Stitch And Chatter Club met November 26 with 21 members and 6 visitors. They quilted two quilts and a hooked rug, enjoyed dinner, handled business in secretary Alma’s absence, and voted to visit Clara’s for a Christmas tree and program before Christmas.

The G P Club and Locust Valley Ladies Aid met at Miss Irene Crooks home on November 11. Members embroidered pillow slugs and sheets, enjoyed a noon dinner, and watched an 1880s style show. Weather kept many away while eight Aid members, fourteen Club members, six children and several visitors attended.
The North Salem Quilting Club gathered December 1 at the Frank Head building with twenty members and fifteen visitors. They worked on several comfort projects for Mabel Cordray, held a big potluck, and planned next month at Ethel Almond's on December 15 while attempting to organize new members.
Mary Emma Nevins dies at 83 after long life in Enterprise Township and nearby communities. Survived by five of seven children, three sisters, seven grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives. Funeral held at Bear Branch Church with burial by Hunter and Rollins.
George Hiram Crowdis died December 4 1937 at age 83 in Missouri after living near Browning and Milan. He was born near Louisville Kentucky August 17 1854 son of John Jefferson and Theodozia Crowdis. Survived by three sisters and one brother. funeral at Roy Crowdis home December 6 with Rev. C C Hunsaker. burial at Schrock cemetery.
We thank friends and neighbors for many acts of kindness shown during the sickness, death and burial of our dear brother and uncle. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Crowdis, and sons.
The M E Ladies aid held an all day quilting gathering at the residence of Mrs Marie Woolf with participants working on quilts and socializing in a community church circle atmosphere.
Artis Franklin collector announces Friday visits in Cora and Milan on Tuesdays and Browning on Saturdays during December to collect taxes for Pleasant Hill township. He outlines locations and cadence for tax collection across the month.
Twelve members of the True Blue Club met with Mrs. Lilburn Gimer on December 1. The December 24 gathering was postponed due to Thanksgiving week. The meeting opened with Jingle Bells and a Club Collect read by Mrs. Tom Mcerris. Members answered roll call with My Thanksgiving Dinner and each read an article on Thanksgiving. Names were drawn for the Christmas Exchange and Secret Sisters prizes were awarded to Mrs. Warren Gooch Mrs. Lee Ells Hedges Mrs. Darrald s contests, with Cocoanut and chocolate candy served. The meeting closed with the Lord s Prayer and will resume December 8 at 1:30 with Mrs. Will Morris hosting.

Tax collector J J Smith announces schedule at Bank of Purdin on December 11, 14, 17, 21, 24, 28 and 30 and at Citizens Savings Bank on December 10, 16, 18, 20, 23, 27, 31 and January 3, plus remaining days at his residence to collect Benton Township taxes.
Mrs. America Fleming was entertained at dinner Tuesday by her nieces Mrs Bertie Holden of Olympia Washington and Mrs Belle Cleeton of Emporia Kansas and by her daughter Mrs J R Williams.
Mrs Eunice F Dickinson entertained Mr and Mrs Burton Carr Mr and Mrs R A Glaze Mr and Mrs W F Peters Mrs Robert Moore Mr John C Dutton Mr Harry Anderson and Ride A Wee Club members and husbands with a Friday December 3 bridge dinner. Favors for high score went to Mrs Glaze and Mr Darr.
Mr and Mrs J B Carter entertained a small group Wednesday evening with a fried chicken dinner. Guests included Mr and Mrs John Mullins Mrs Zella Woodworth and Christian Bailey.
Miss Mabel Cooper and Lewis K Foster were married Sunday morning at the Chillicothe parsonage by Rev LaVerne L Rudolph. The bride, a Chillicothe High School graduate, worked at Scotts Store before marriage. The groom, a Purden High School class of 1929 alum, has worked for a Steel Construction Company. They will live near Chillicothe after a brief honeymoon.

The Sunshine Workers Club met December 1 despite a snow storm. Eight members and eleven visitors attended to work on comforts and a quilt for the hostess Mrs Ernest Head who moved to a new house. A covered luncheon followed with songs readings and a short program. The next meeting with Mabel Maxwell will feature a Christmas program and gift exchange.
Nell Williams Col lector announces tax receipts are ready and may be obtained at her residence.
On Monday evening November 29 at the Virgil Dodson home friends gathered for worship. Rev Owen delivered a sincere sermon on service and love. Attendees joined in the spirit of the meeting with lifting testimonies, while Mr Dodson's long afflictions highlighted his patient example and active church support.
The Hummel-Wesley Class met Thursday afternoon December 3 with thirteen members. New president Mrs Owen led the business session and Mrs Haning led a discussion on the book of Revelation. Refreshments were served. Next meeting with Mrs Nellie Seaman December 18.

Hester hosts an all day U. & Workers gathering with quilting on a wheel of fortune, a generous noon meal, and a two o'clock program led by Mrs. Helen Payne. Members present include Hester Steele and several Steeles plus Payne, Bur ris, Crist, and Miller families. visitors attend as sickness narrows attendance. The group plans to meet December 14 with a Christmas song verse.
