Winigan Eagle Captured After Flight Across Farm

Mrs. Nickell’s Wyan-Motte chickens were attacked daily until Mr. Nickell shot the eagle three times, final shot in the right eye. The bird, described as yellow feathered head and black with white spotted body, is believed by locals to be a Harpy eagle though features differ. It will be mounted for exhibition at the next Green City fair according to Green City Press.

Local Craftsman, Inventor Remembered Across Brookfield

In 1809 he first lived in Grantsville then Browning where he ran a furniture business before moving to Brookfield about eight years ago. He ran a novelty shop showcasing iron brass and wood work aiding neighbors and earning respect. Survived by daughter Lena and son William J. of Chariton Iowa. Funeral held at home Tuesday with Rev A L Zink of the Christian church officiating.
