Early Morning Feeding for Hens Boosts Winter Egg Output
Missouri agricultural expert H L Kempster advises starting scratch feed at roost time so hens have full crops by morning. Use 5 pounds of scratch per 100 hens, provide dry mash (corn meal shorts bran meat scrap) in a self feeder, and maintain grit shell and mash availability. Keep hens roosted with full crops to protect egg production and maintain health.
