For the first time in years, city ministers laid plans for union services with Rev. W. W. Clay delivering an ornate sermon. A Thanksgiving dinner followed at Brown ing Motor Company, enjoyed by a large crowd. The event fostered union and strength, though many businesses closed after supper.

Thanksgiving was observed as Browning closed shops and held 11 o’clock services in the rebuilt church with a large crowd. Afterward a community dinner at the Ford Garage shared with the shut ins, and Kaifong and Browning preaching scheduled for December 6. Hamilton Pie Supper advertised with Lorene Duncan as teacher.
Beginning Tuesday December 8 1925 payments will be at the Bank of Puriin each Tuesday at the Stock Over Bank each Saturday and at the Farmers Exchange Bank Browning the rest of the time to meet Penton township taxes. Tax books are at the Farmers Exchange Browning Mo. Florence E Lay Collector.
A county seat town cemetery sexton writes to Mr Summers offering to send a sample case to compete with others. The missive mentions prior work for rivals and hints at selling goods at a lower price. The damaged note ends abruptly.

Mr and Mrs C P Williams of Crescent Oklahoma and their son Joe and daughter Mrs Harley Reams left Sunday for Chillicothe to visit Mrs Mary Dilliner before returning home. Williams recently completed a fine home for Mr and Mrs H P Maggart north of Cora with electric lights and heat. He handed the office three dollars promising two years of future support.
A. A. Couch offers a reward for the return of an Olympic coster brake wagon taken from a back porch one week ago. The notice seeks the wagon and identifies the owner.

Thursday Mr and Mrs E P D Christy hosted a full Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and accompaniments. Guests included Prof and Mrs W M Hedges of Gifford Mr and Mrs Henry Christy Lillian Dan and Van Christy. The day was a pleasant family affair with all in good spirits.

This item recalls a S. H. Barrett Railroad Show billed for Laclede on May 15, 1885. The eight page advert promises Xerxes the $50,000 elephant, coal black tigers, over 200 people and 100 animals, bareback riders, clowns, sacred cattle, and exotic acts from around the globe.
The text notes a specimen of printer’s art with a bill bearing the name John P. Stanton from Bloomfield Iowa and suggests he placed the bill in the back of the glass.
Vic Jones and his twin sons Penl and Rovs from near Purdin visited on Saturday. Jones recently returned from a business trip to New Plymouth Idaho where he owns irrigated land. He brought a fine apple from his ranch and a deer pelt presented by his nephew.

Nancy Jane Downing born in Livingston County Missouri in 1860 lived in Grundy County married Henry F. Downing on January 7 1877. She died November 27 1925 at age 65 leaving three children six brothers three sisters and many relatives. Funeral services were held at the Browning area home and she was buried at Jenkins Cemetery.

A former Browning area pupil, raised near White Oak Grove, gains promotion in the Chicago Great Western Railroad system. Starting 1918 with C B and Q, he climbs through roles in St Joseph, Winona, Tulsa, St Louis, and Chicago, now designated Division Freight and Passenger Agent for the Northern Division with Red Wing as headquarters. He will oversee about five hundred miles of line and will join his wife and daughter in Red Wing.

Yimmie Yonson’s at Shafter presented The Yimmie Job a roaring comedy under Royal Neighbors. Ten cast members led by J D Molloy delivered lively performances to a full community hall crowd. Proceeds exceeded $36 with plans to stage in nearby cities. Cast included Earl Hess Merle Hess Wayne Cooper Vernon Phillips Louis Grice Letha Morris Oma Phillips Mrs Roberta Gooch Anna Lee Myers and Mrs Lee Myers.

Walter and Johnny Stephenson prepared to transport their brother Robert to a Kirksville hospital for arm treatment after a blood infection worsened his condition. Earlier in the week his hand showed poisoning signs, followed by leg swelling and ongoing suffering.
