Jerome-Baskett Reunion Draws Many to White Oak Church

The Jerome and Baskett reunion was held Sunday August 19 at White Oak church. Attendees shared visits and renewed kinship though several relatives were absent. Next year’s gathering is planned for the first Sunday in August with services hoped for by all.

Love Circle Meeting At Mrs Grant Smith Home

The Love Circle met at Mrs. Grant Smith's home on Tuesday August 21 with 15 members and 16 visitors. A noon cafeteria style meal followed in the summer kitchen. The afternoon featured a theme song, a reading by Edith Hatfield read by Sylvia Stephenson, roll call Bible questions, contests with prizes for Nellie and Velma Stephenson, Mrs Myrtle Dunlap and Mrs Gertie Bertschman, and gifts for several secret sisters. Willing Workers Meeting Report From Park August 8

The Willing Workers did not meet due to sickness and heat. July 11 session included Aunt Mary Cotter. the August program featured flower garden quilt work, talks by Edna Harvey and Pauline Western, a district outline by Lucille Hardin, and a birthday shower for Anna Hatch and Lucy Cumbo. Next meeting set for September 5 with Lucy Cumbo. Nora Harris and Jean Bailey to receive gifts.

Wednesday Band Concert Delights Brown ing Community

A delegation from Green City and Milan aided Brown ing musicians on Wednesday night, drawing full parking and standing room. Guest conductors Huckstep Cowger Atherton led a varied program including a Cowger tuba solo and Wagon Wheels vocal duet. The local band reorganized with new officers and twenty two members.

Mrs Pennety Gooch Lifelong Linn County Matriarch Passes

Mrs Pennety Jane Gooch Mundell born October 1 1849 Linn County Missouri died August 22 1934 at age 84 years 10 months and 21 days. She married Henry C Moore May 10 1861 and had 100 children six survive. She later married W H C Gooch November 4 1920. Funeral Friday at 2 pm at the Baptist church in Linneus with Rev E John Meyers. Burial at Mundell Cemetery.

Stitch and Chatter Club Meets for All Day Session

The Stitch and Chatter Club met with Mrs. Camora Abbott on Thursday August 23 for an all day meeting. Members prepared dinner for corn cutter and Mrs Abbott brought in quilts including The Broken Circle to be quilted and two previously quilted quilts to be bound. The group worked diligently until noon.

Wanda Fern McCollum daughter of Claude W and Gladys McCollum was born July 18 1931 and died August 21 1934 at age 3 years 1 month 3 days. She was loved by relatives and friends and leaves a mother father four grandparents four great grandparents two aunts one uncle three cousins and many friends.

Sunshine Workers Night Social At Noel Bennett Home

The Sunshine Workers and families met at Noel Bennett's on Thursday night August 23. The group enjoyed a radio program from Stitch and Chatter and Spit and Spatter Clubs over PUNK Little Rock and other stations, with music, readings, and a foot guessing game. Attendees listed include the Gooch and Abbott families, Arnolds, DeVore, Bennett, and many Browning residents. The evening ended with refreshments and a note of high enjoyment.

Browning Juniors Fall to Majesties in Park Diamond Tilt

Browning Juniors lost to Brookfield Majestics 7 to 5 at the Park diamond on Wednesday August 22. Glen George pitched for Browning with Carr and Glen Robinson behind the plate. Brookfield led 6 runs in the first two innings and Browning scored 5 in the first four, with the season ending likely for the Juniors as school starts. Celebrations followed for Mr and Mrs Lloyd E Bowyer on their 28th wedding anniversary with family gathering at their home.
