In DeQuincy Louisiana a tornado destroyed nearly all property killing seven people and injuring several others. Many houses were wrecked and families narrowly escaped harm as debris filled the air during the disaster.

A. T. Havens writes from Camp Greenleaf Georgia dated August 13 1918 to his mother Cora Missouri. He expresses desire to serve in the military police or go to France while acknowledging he may stay behind to help defend U. S. forts. He notes good weather and asks about a friend Kaifong and local thrashing, sending regards to family.
A soldier writes from Somewhere in France on July 22 1918 describing travel from Bordeaux to Blain and Saint Nazaire. He notes Paris visits remount station life at camp with Y shows mosquitoes and a mixed mix of English speaking locals and soldiers, plus longing for letters and friends. He mentions trains ships and detachments with quartermaster support and a growing sense of routine.
A wartime letter from Ollie Morris in the Aviation Reserve convoy at A E F Park No 1 writes of air raids, a big gun, and plans to send views. He asks for Aunt Matt’s address and promises more letters once back. He closes with affection and a request to hear news soon.
A letter from Ray extols General Pershing as a great man seen among many officers. He notes cold water baths, daily letters, and marching pride for Missouri and Laclede, with plans to run around that afternoon and comments on Allied actions against Germany.
