Mrs C B Knifong Pass ed Away At Hospital

Obituary notes the death of Mrs. C B Knifong at Laughlin Hospital Kirksville Missouri on Saturday July 30 1938 at age 65 born April 14 1873 near Fields Mill Sullivan County Missouri. Survived by husband Cabel Bradford Knifong five sons fourteen grandchildren one great grandson three sisters and one brother. three brothers and four sisters and two grandsons preceded her in death. Services held August 1 at White Oak Church in Milan conducted by Rev F G Seyfarth burial at nearby cemetery.

Young Couple Married at Laredo July 30

Miss Ival Marie Bundies and Woodrow Keithley wed Saturday evening July 30 at six o'clock in the home of Rev Brott of the Methodist Church at Laredo. The bride wore light blue silk crepe dress with matching accessories. groom in blue. Attendants were Mrs Louise Ogle, Mrs Bernice Boyles, and Lyle Bundies. The Keithleys will live briefly with the groom's parents.

North Salem Quilting Club Meets July 28

The North Salem Quilting Club met in the afternoon with Naomi Mc Clead. Twenty five members and sixteen visitors attended. Members embroidered and sewed lace on dresser scarves and pillow cases, with three aprons to applique and embroider. A comfort was to be bound and most work was nearly finished. The president opened the business meeting with a song, The Unclouded Day.

Local club meeting ends with prayers and contests

The gathering included many members and numerous visitors. Maxine and Reba won con tests while Goldie and Helen received prizes. The next meeting is set for August 11 with Mrs Alpha Lambert, and cookies and cold drinks will be served.

A group near North Salem journeyed to a creek on Tuesday August 2 for a picnic and fishing. After preparing dinner the men fished and all returned to eat fried fish at Ellis Jennings. Kenneth Kelley starred for the Redbirds with a no hit no run outing against Mendon, winning 5 to 0. He walked one, hit one batter, and struck out thirteen as Ambrose Williams led Browning with a triple double and single in four at bats. Stitch And Chatter Club Meets For All Day Quilt Day

The Stitch And Chatter club held an all day session at Allie Ware's on August fourth with 25 members and 46 visitors. They quilted a wedding ring piece under a shade tree due to heat and completed embroidery projects on pillow slips and cross stitch sailor boys. A guessing contest and word jumble on presidents names provided entertainment, followed by a large dinner and generous ice cream. Members plan to meet again August 18 with roll call prompts and contests by Orpha and Lucille.
