Mrs. W. O. Warner Dies at Meadville Home

Minnie Roger, daughter of George Washington and Martha Arm Knifong, born February 14 1873 in Browning Missouri, died July 22 1938 in St. Louis at 65. She married Wm Harvey in 1891 producing two children, later wed W C Warner in 1933 who survives. She leaves grandchildren, sisters Mollie Foster and Kathryne Calhoun, and was active in the church and community. Funeral held at the Meadville Methodist Church with interment in local cemetery.

William Warner of Meadville Dies at 66

William O Warner born July 3 1872 in Bath County Kentucky died July 28 1938 at his Meadville Missouri home aged 66 years 25 days He farmed north east of Meadville a stock raiser and benefactor to farmers He married Elizabeth Woolen in 1895 producing son Guy and later married Minnie Harvey in 1933 Funeral services were held July 30 at the Meadville Methodist Church with interment nearby.

Voted School Bonds For Browning Community

Browning citizens again voted for bonds to build an auditorium and gymnasium and remodel the existing building. The tally: 145 for and 30 against. The district will supply 55 percent of funds with 45 percent from the Government. In June 210 votes were cast for the bonds and 16 against.

Bitter Sweet Club Meeting Adorns July Social

The Bitter Sweet Club met with Mrs. Robert Smith on July 27, six members and eight visitors attended. The president led the meeting with two songs, Leona Remick gave the collect, and Susan Creason reported in the absence of the secretary. Essie Wood won the guessing contest as guests enjoyed ice tea and cookies. next meeting is with Mrs. Gladys Sparks on August 3.

Owen Family Reunion Draws Seven States to Arkansas

Rev Owen and wife and family attended an Owen reunion returning Friday from Conway Arkansas. The gathering included seventy three people from seven states. On the return trip they stayed two nights at the Mt Sequoyah Assembly near Fayetteville and met Miss Jane Smith employed there for the summer who will study at Scarritt Training School in Nashville with potential missionary work in Cuba after training.

Ross Lantz and son harvest 611 bushels of oats

Ross Lantz and his son Maurice harvested ten acres of Fulghum oats for Ed Die Bailey on Thursday afternoon of last week. The crop yielded 611 bushels at about 61 bushels per acre, grown on upland and described as splendid quality.

Annual District Con Vention At Brunswick

The Second District of the American Legion held its annual joint convention at Riverside Park near Brunswick with Post No. 7 and auxiliary. Over 300 Legionnaires and Auxiliary members and children attended. Officers for the coming year include District Commander Ross Myers, Alternate Orville Mahurin, and Adjutant Vern Sparks. An Employment Week outline was given to aid those 35 to 40 seeking work, veterans and non veterans alike. The day included business meetings, an ice cream social planned for August 6, and a reading by Dorothy with a Lord's Prayer to close.

Redbirds Dominate Green City 18-0 At Browning Park

Browning ball club secured a decisive 18 to 0 win over Green City last Sunday afternoon at Browning Park. Moore pitched six sharp innings with 11 strikeouts, Carr finished the seventh and added five more. Redbirds totaled 18 hits, led by T McArtor and J Carr with three hits each, and have averaged 18 runs in the last three games. Mendon comes next Sunday afternoon for a thriller after Mendon defeated local club 3-2 in late June.
