Friday, March 31 marked the end of a term at Jenkins with Miss Mary Stufflebean teaching. A large crowd attended a dinner and program with dialogs, recitations, songs, and prizes for daily attendance, as Dorris Havens earned an eighth grade diploma.
The notice states a 28 Chevrolet and an unnamed Ford model are available for trade. The seller from Glasgow Missouri will consider cash difference or vehicle difference and invites interested buyers to contact RK Ross in Murdin Missouri.
Mundell school closed a very successful term with Miss Dorothy Stone as teacher. Patrons arrived with baskets for a noon gathering and a program followed by notes from visitors. John Oaks was the sole eighth grade graduate. Prizes went to Nelson Mundell, Mary Sue Bennett, and Lorene Stone for perfect attendance, while Mary Sue Bennett earned the top marks and Lorene Stone the high spelling grade.
Edgar Shepherd expresses gratitude to friends who backed him in the two recent elections, noting loyal support and appreciation for their help.

South Hooker school ends for the term on Thursday March 24 with Cecil Lay as teacher. About noon district patrons arrive with filled baskets and share a hearty mid day dinner.
Mrs Clara Hanman announces she will host boarders and roomers in Kirksville and invites all students and teachers from the area planning to attend school there this spring and summer.
Monday marked the close of another term at White Oak Grove school on the state highway north of town. Under Mrs. Lena Kenley the district scored at Milan, ranking third countywide with many first prizes. The closing day featured a dinner and an afternoon program, reflecting the community’s pride in their rural school and its graduates.
The Brookshier district bid farewell to Miss Marjorie Stufflebean and her pupils at a closing day celebration. Patrons hosted a noon feast with ample foods, followed by a student program and dismissal after a successful term.
The Rev J D Mendenhall of Brookfield visits the office during farm absence and presents his book The Self Made Man. He recounts pioneer Missouri life from 1840 near Bucklin, details early schooling, religion, and his path to ministry. The meeting features songs, introductions, rug demonstration, and a news letter reading, with next meeting set for April 5.
G P Fields thanks friends for support in election to township trustee and pledges to be an efficient official.

A personal memorial note marking the one year anniversary of Mrs Will Pulliam's passing on April 5. The speaker recalls her as deeply missed, describes an empty chair, expresses sorrow, and quotes faith that God finished her work and called her home.
The Jolly Jane Club met March 22 at Mrs Norman McDonald’s home with 14 members and 7 visitors present. Visitors listed include Mrs Fannie Head Mrs Pearl Head Mrs Erma Burkholder Mrs Ethel Tripp Mrs Bertie Rulon Miss Effie Hubbard and Miss Rosa Kirk. A quilt was finished for the hostess and another was nearly pieced. A covered dish luncheon was served at noon. At two o'clock the president called the meeting.
A. B. Edwards traveling salesman from Moberly struck a Wood truck on the highway south of the city. His left arm was badly shattered and likely to be amputated. He received initial treatment from Dr. Becker before being transported to Laughlin hospital in Kirksville by ambulance with L. W. Hummel and Allen Swisegood assisting.
Mrs Carrie Dodge wife of Willie Dodge died at her Linneus home Wednesday morning at 12 30 following a week of pneumonia though she had been frail for four months. She was born Carrie May Deskins October 19 1883 near North Salem and married Phillip A Lantz then WM Dodge of Linneus with three children Windford and Paul of Santa Fe NM and Mrs Phyllis Gridley of Kansas City at her bedside. She is survived by three brothers Fred Deskins Harry Deskins and Irl Deskins. A service was held at Thorne Funeral Parlors then burial at North Salem. Easter services noted for First Baptist Church with sermon on The power of the Resurrection and supper observance.
Voters chose Elmo Schrock as mayor and Clifton Peterson as marshal with other posts filled in East and West Wards. Sworn in after polls closed, city clerk J. N. Neet and treasurer N. W. Phillips were named.
The judges certify the March 28 1933 Duncan township election results for Roger board members. M. M. Barrows received 56 votes Edgar Shepherd 28 A. F. Eastman 74 Fred Lumsden 46. A large turnout favored the school election with two new directors chosen: Mrs Floy Peterson 151 votes and W P Nickell 142. G T Carter 141 and Orbra Jones 83 followed. The school levy passed by a large margin and the board will organize after the oath.
A recount revealed the Reger vote on Tuesday, brought by Robert and George Fields, showed 66 for Barrows while tally sheets listed 56. The township board in the city last Saturday corrected the tally to 56 and declared Edgar Shepherd the winner over Barrows.

A Burlington passenger train struck a car at a crossing one mile east of Utica, killing Glenn Grimes 39 Fernella Grimes 33 and their five children Larkin 9 Robert 7 Glenn 6 Charles 3 and Virginia 3 months. The car stalled on the track and the train could not avert impact. no blame on the crew. The family had moved from Grundy county to the area years ago and were known locally.
