Brownfield voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, November 8, to vote on issuing 74.8 million dollars in revenue bonds to finance the Canadian River dam and pipeline system serving nine Panhandle South Plains cities. Elections will be held in Brownfield, Levelland, Tahoka, O'Donnell, Lamesa, Lubbock, Slaton, Borger and Plainview.

Terry County Commissioners approved petitions and a plan to hold a two part election on county ownership of a hospital. They authorize a $300,000 bond issue and a tax reallocation to retire bonds within 20 years, with fallouts including funds shifts among General Fund Road and Bridge Jury and Public Building Fund. They also retained Columbus Securities Corp to prepare ballots and data while considering land sales and highway rights of way.

The Randal PTA held its first meeting of the new term in the school cafeteria with a tea. President Mrs. Mitchell Flache and Principal Vernon Brewer introduced officers and welcomed attendees. The group lists 133 members and invites all parents to the October 15 gathering featuring a home program.
The Terry County United Fund Board of Directors will meet to organize with a new constitution and by laws. A campaign and budget committee will be appointed for the first annual drive with Dan Eddy of the Salvation Army in Dallas assisting. The roster includes James Harley Dallas as chairman and many local members.
Ada Oil Company staked a 10 000 foot Pennsylvanian test ten miles southeast of Brownfield. Location 660 feet from north and west lines of Section 10, Block M, near a 1953 dry hole. Field designated as Coroco Siluro Devonian with perforations at 12742 to 12752 feet and total depth 12802 feet.
