Brownfield Chamber weighs borrowing to cover Harvest Festival costs

Terry Farm Tour set for Thursday morning
City and County residents will tour crops in southern Terry County on Thursday at 9 a.m. starting from the First Baptist parking lot. Six buses will visit four stops to view cotton, grain sorghum, peanuts, watermelons, black eyed peas, forage sorghum, and irrigation demos with demonstrations by Tom Gaither and two Texas Extension agronomists. The tour ends at Coleman Park around noon with a barbecue dinner.

Brownfield Depot remembers Santa Fe line era on the plains
A 1903 1906 survey by Santa Fe signaled agricultural potential and new markets. The Brownfield depot, built 1917, opened 1918 after a WWI delay. The line linked Lubbock to Seagraves, shipping cattle and later farm products. The depot moved to the museum for restoration, costing 7000 by Henry Moving Co. of Plainview.
