Sam Oliver Wins 1960 Diversified Farmer Award on TSCD Tour
Sam Oliver of Terry County near Wellman is named the 1960 Diversified Farmer, receiving $500 cash and an engraved plaque from the Terry Soil Conservation District and Brownfield Chamber of Commerce. The honor, announced during TSCD’s seventh field trip, honors his water management, deep plowing, cover crops, soil improvement crops, fertilizer use, and crop residues amid a tour for about 275 guests. Oliver, active since 1942, was praised for profitably yielding through modern farming and neighborly help, with support from local officials and guests including State Rep Olen Petty and Sen Preston Smith.

Services Today For Mrs. J. W. Bailey
Funeral services for Mrs. I. W. Bailey of Tokio will be held at 2 30 p m today at Calvary Baptist Church. The Rev Calvin Beach and the Rev Billy Hatch will officiate. Mrs Bailey died Friday in Methodist Hospital Lubbock after illness. Survivors include her husband two sons Wilborn and Bob both of Tokio a daughter Jo Ann Bailey and three grandchildren. She lived in Terry since 1944 and was a member of Tokio Baptist Church.

Love Miller, head of ASC, announces 1960 Cotton Marketing Cards will be mailed next week to about 1,700 Terry farmers. The cards, 814 inches wide by 4 inches deep, come in green for Plan A and white for Plan B. No envelopes, and the farmer must possess the card to sell cotton. Each card lists the Marketing Card number and the farm number.
