Earlier Friday night a wall was broken into to reach a second story office. nothing missing then. Police also logged several drunkenness arrests with fines ranging from 25 to 29.50 dollars and noted thefts including a chrome air cleaner and a battery from vehicles.

Brownfield Public Schools began the regular term with 2671 students, down 57 from last year. Brownfield High School had 707 present, Wheatley 93, Brownfield Junior High 452, West Ward 242, Colonial Heights 567, Jesse G. Randal 257, Oak Grove down 23 to 353. Positions needed include a physical science health teacher at the high school, a social studies teacher at the junior high, a second grade teacher, two speech therapists, and one teacher for mentally retarded children, all filled by substitutes for now.

The Muleshoe Cubs booster meeting featured a film by Head Coach Charlie Keese of the scrimmage against the Mule shoe team played Saturday in Muleshoe. Keese and Hendley praised the Cubs' effort and improvement while Fred Cawthon gave a Denver City game scout. Barbara Sparks and Joe Wood from Beta Sigma Phi promoted booster tags sold for 1.50, and 31 members attended refreshments.
