In El Dorado Kansas Frank Trevino, 66, stopped to aid a single vehicle crash south of Meadow. He collapsed from a heart attack and died at 4:57 PM at University Medical Center. The driver Gregory Lee Hurley, 50, of Lubbock, survived the crash and was hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
Officials from the food bank report the Ardeth Swain Food Box Drive raised more than 1000 dollars and collected over 3200 pounds of food. Rev Ken Flowers of the Ministerial Alliance notes the surplus will sustain the program into 1997. The box assists about 100 area families monthly, roughly 400 to 500 people, funded by church and resident donations with boxes placed at Thriftway and United Supermarkets.
