BISD Board canvasses Saturday Trustee votes
Brownfield ISD board in regular session canvassed Saturday election results, sworn in trustees, and reorganized. Joe Martinez Jr won district two with 97 votes, Rusty Andrews won district four with 188, and new officers include Andrews as president and Sam Chaffin as vice president. The board approved sending Brownfield High Band to the Great Southern Contest of Champions in Orlando in April 1988 with about 125 students, 30 sponsors, and $500 per pupil. no school funds used. The vote was 5-1.

Weekend police activity includes burglaries and assault reports
Brownfield police logged multiple incidents over the weekend including burglaries at a Park Lane residence where about 1500 dollars of property vanished including a Hitachi video tuner VCR and a Sylvania camera. An assault occurred at a North A residence with a young male attacker injuring a woman with scissors. She was hospitalized first at BRMC and then transferred to Lubbock General in intensive care. Additional incidents include a smashed McDonald’s window by an irate customer after closing.
