County farmers assess crop damage in Terry County

Local Post Office Urges Early Overseas Christmas Mailing

Brownfield Postmaster Conrad Cabe warns overseas mail should be sent this week for packages and by December 1 for cards due to unpredictable international service. Domestic mail should also be mailed early, with a first week of December recommended for most packages. The office will open two Saturdays in December for customer service.

Brownfield High School students form a Just Say No group with an organizational meeting at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday in the Little Theater. A Meals on Wheels canned goods drive offers free admission to Tuesday's girls basketball game if two cans are donated. the varsity girls face Andrews at 7:30 p.m.

Hospital Directors to Meet in Regular Session

The Terry Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday. Agenda items include a discussion on BR MC's liability insurance and a request for medical staff privileges. A monthly report will be given by BRMC Administrator Pat McMillan.

Survey finds Brownfield residents slip final belt rules

A Texas Tech survey in Brownfield counted 141 belt use observations from three locations with 90 at Brownfield High School Grace Street, showing 46 under 20 and six not restrained. At Ballard and Cactus 121 observations found 32 of 40 vehicles with children over five unbuckled.

Brownfield BISD to canvass election and bids

United Way campaign nears halfway point in Terry County

Terry County United Way reports progress toward a 1986 campaign goal of $30,000 with $14,918.95 raised to date, 49 percent. Divisions show mixed results: Advanced $9,596.59 (53%), General $1,070 (107%), Rural $2,768.51 (184%), Church $255 (56%), School $236.85 (11%), Employee $992 (13%).
