Sorghum Variety Tests Planned North of Brownfield
Western Grain Company sponsors field tests of eight hybrid sorghum varieties this summer at Wayne Mullins farm north of Brownfield. Six De Kalb varieties plus Texas 610 and Martins will be evaluated for best local producer. The plot near the Lubbock Highway bowling alley will be open for farmer inspection during the season and is one of three company supervised tests including a dryland plot on Val Garner farm and an irrigation study on J A Benthal farm south of Brownfield.

Burglars broke into Brownfield High School last Thursday night and rifled two offices and the vocational agriculture shop. They stole about $40 from a soda machine and damaged a walk-in safe area while attempting to drill into the vault. Three filing cabinets with students records were pried open before the scene was abandoned.
