Brownfield High and Union High announce Friday commencement. Brownfield’s 114 graduates include Valedictorian Becky Brisendine and Salutatorian Lynsey Hargrave. top 10 list notes Chad Marrow Barbie Brisendine Lesli Blair and others. Project Graduation runs 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. with Optimist Club breakfast at 5 p.m. Union High will graduate Lupe Herrera Jr and Barbara Gonzales at 8 p.m.

The Cubs won District 3-AAA and finished 7-3. Awards honored Shad Evans, Bubba Marrow, Roderick Reed, and others across football, basketball, and volleyball, with standout players earning All-District, All-South Plains, and All-State designations.
County Education District 6 held what may be its final board meeting in the BISD boardroom. Administrator Larry Throm presented a budget report showing year to date revenues of 112 284 852 and expenditures of 111 637 363. He outlined a state funded plan offering five ways wealthy districts can reduce funds to 280 000 per student.
Longtime Brownfield building inspector Earl Elrod outlines his role enforcing city building plumbing electrical and zoning codes. He explains the job covers all construction facets to ensure work is right and safe, with many ordinances not widely known but applying to every project whether residential or commercial.
In a brief session the Terry County Commissioners set June 14 to accept bids on a used truck to haul a bulldozer, replacing a 1963 model. They also scheduled June 11 to sell surplus salvage property at Terry County Airport, viewable 8:30 to noon and open at 2 p.m., including furniture and vehicles. Investigator Gary Cook was approved for $550 to attend an OCCIC school in Fort Worth June 7 to 10. Pool fees were set for the summer season starting May 29 with daytime admissions at 2 dollars and nighttime parties at 40 dollars plus 1 dollar per swimmer.
