Brownfield May sales tax rebate inches up
The City of Brownfield received a May rebate of 73,215.20 from the state comptroller, up 0.93 percent from last year’s May payment of 72,936.56, but year to date remains 3.53 percent below the prior year. Meadow’s May rebate was 184.67, down 72.77 percent from last year’s 678.30, with year total of 1,077.77 a 52.65 percent drop from 2,276.30. Overall May rebates totaled 150.8 million to 1,066 cities and 105 counties.

Brownfield High showcases arts and awards events this May
End-of-year events at Brownfield High School run through Friday and the following Monday in Room 47 from 8 a.m. to 3 45 p.m with a special Thursday showing May 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. Lia Johnson of Lubbock judges the works. The Band banquet is this Saturday at the BHS Commons, serving at 7 p.m. and program at 8 p.m. The Athletic Awards Banquet is 6 p.m. Saturday May 23 in the high school commons. Tickets are $6 at the library upstairs, main office, or at the door.
