Councilmen restrict frontage lake parking at Gillham Park
Brownfield city council approved Terry County Park Board plans to restrict parking along both sides of Tohoka Highway for 100 feet in front of Gillham Park. City Manager Dick Fletcher cited safety concerns as the park becomes a popular recreation spot and sign guidance will direct traffic to a designated east side parking area.

Recount Reverses County Precinct Four Race Result
Democratic candidate Jimmy Berryhill edges incumbent James Martin 231 to 230 after a Friday recount in precinct four box four. Original tallies showed Martin leading 171 to 127. recount shifts to 125 for Martin, 171 for Berryhill in that box while other precinct totals and absentee votes remain unchanged. Berryhill becomes Democratic nominee for county commissioner precinct four in November.

Brownfield Harvest Festival date set by Chamber Directors
Brownfield Chamber of Commerce Board set October 4 as this year's Harvest Festival date, to be held with the Terry County Fair. The event includes a parade and activities at Coleman Park plus a Harvest Festival queen crowning.
