Texas voters rejected three proposed school finance amendments in a statewide election with 63 percent to 37 percent voting against the Robin Hood plan. Brownfield recorded 20 building permits in April totaling 106300 dollars, led by a 75000 dollar new residence at 1110 E Hester. First four months of 1993 show 66 permits totaling 354260 dollars with numerous residential and small projects listed.
Brownfield voters chose four incumbents to city and hospital board seats while four new Brownfield City Council members claimed Place 4 Place 5 and at large posts. Terry County races saw tight margins with incumbent Bob Simpson re elected in CISD and Kyle King defeating Enedina Muniz for school board. Meadow and Wellman elections also produced re elected incumbents and a mayoral return.
Brownfield City Council schedules regular 7:30 a.m. session to canvass Saturday election results and declare winners. Oath of Office for new officials, Mayor Pro Tem election, two new Zoning Board appointees, and replacements on the Plumbing Board Building Code Board of Adjustment Ambulance Criminal Justice Advisory Board Texas Municipal League Region III RC&D County Committee. They will review bids to trade two police cars, a Burnett family water tank claim, Cobra health coverage, bicycle ordinance for Judge Rhyne Trails, and a plan to buy the detention basin behind the Crystal Palace.
