Cerise J. Merritt reports that Lamesa hosts the Forrest Park Poetry Festival for a third year with May 10 as the event date. The poetry competition has under 13 and adult divisions with prizes of 25 and 100 dollars, plus a creative non fiction category open to writers of all ages and locations.
The Brownfield Senior Citizens and Brownfield XYZ Club publish weekly menus for March 24 to 28 featuring varied meals with entrees like Hamburger Steak Turkey Liver and Onions Chicken Fried Steak and Hamburger on a Bun plus sides. Submissions for a festival are due by April 30 to Connie Williams in Lamesa Texas or via email addresses provided.
A multi county speciality crops meeting for producers from Terry Gaines and Yoakum counties is set for 1 p.m. Thursday March 27 in the Terry County Livestock Barn. Sponsored by the Terry County Extension Office the program includes disease and weed control talks by Dr. Harold Kaufman and Dr. Peter Dotray plus sessions on agronomics watermelon production and more.
Police log summaries report gas drive offs at multiple locations including 809 Lubbock Road 1402 Tahoka Road and 800 Lubbock Road with amounts of 7 and 29.96 dollars. A fire was logged at 619 West Broadway and damage to gas pumps noted at 101 South First Street. A white Dodge pickup with New Mexico plates towing a travel trailer was involved in one drive off.
