AARP Offers Free Tax Help To Local Seniors
The AARP with two local volunteers through the Brownfield Senior Citizens Center and the XYZ Club provides free tax return preparation sessions every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers Jean Stiff and Helen Shirey train in tax prep and welcome residents to bring last year’s forms, this year’s tax packet, and proof of deductible expenses. For XYZ Club members, appointments are available by calling Stiff at 637 3741 or Shirey at 755 2269. The group considered bids from First National Bank and American State Bank. a motion to select FNB as depository passed unanimously. The Brownfield News was approved as the city’s official newspaper for legal notices.
