Intermediate students dramatize Jamestown history with candy fund-raiser
Fifth graders under teacher Pat Surface form the Virginia Stock Company to fund a Jamestown table colony. They sold 1300 suckers, earned 180 dollars, bought supplies, and saved 40 dollars for an April 21 field trip to Science Spectrum and Planetarium. Students studied economics, constructed a scale model, wrote biographies, and learned about early colonists and survival challenges.
