Brownfield Cub Tennis advances to state with regional win
Brownfield High School varsity tennis won the Texas State Tennis Coaches Association regional team title in Levelland, defeating Forsan and Anton before a 13 5 win over Vernon. Coach Virdie Montgomery praised the Cubs for earning a top seed in the Abilene state team tourney on March 29 30. The girls squad features D M Dodd and teammates Staci Rogers Jennifer Box Joni Lassiter Amy Knight Laura Simpson Carol Cox Sharla Blay Kelly Zorns Carrie Tucker. the boys include Philip Dodd Scott Netties Jay Davis Jimmy Hope Timmy Hope Kyle Kingsley and others.

BRMC Board approves employee pay raise and cost cuts
The Brownfield Regional Medical Center board approved a 3 percent cost of living raise for all staff effective next pay period after a 20 minute executive session. They also approved Clinitek 10 lab equipment at 125 dollars and a $2600 valve system to cut summer gas bills by about 1,000 monthly. The plan includes closing one nursing station and reducing staff from 143 toward the 130s due to staffing challenges.
