First version of 85-86 budget goes before City Councilmen

The Brownfield High School A cappella Choir earned Sweepstakes for the second straight year at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading contest in Lubbock. They earned first division ratings from all judges for three concert selections and again in sightreading. The mixed chorus stood alone in sweepstakes among classes A through AAAA. Notable members gained region, all-region, all-state honors, with Peter Anderson as pianist and Larry Jewell directing the choir.

Brownfield Public Schools reopen Adult Education Classes at 7 p.m. March 19 in Brownfield High School Vocational Wing. Courses cover reading writing arithmetic English and science for ages 16 and older not enrolled elsewhere. GED prep and a class for those under ninth grade. No charge. Register March 19. HB 72 Rule Enforced in BISD Extracurriculars
BISD implements Texas HB 72 requiring a 70 grade to participate in any school activity. Superintendent Don Hendley says 121 students appeared on a UIL eligibility list this week though some students are counted more than once.
