Cattlemen Back Brucellosis Program in Terry County

Ten Terry ranchers approved a brucellosis control program after a Texas Extension Service talk by Dr. E M Patterson. The plan, from the Texas Animal Health Commission, calls for testing and vaccination at livestock markets. A future Terry County vote will decide whether breeding stock are tested and vaccinated, with state vaccination offered free for underage cattle if favored.

BBC Event Set With Three Junior High Basketball Games

Brownfield Boys Club hosts Lamesa Boys Club Thursday with three games at 6 30, 7 15, and 8 15 p m. Admission is free and public attendance is urged. Harold May will bring three teams by bus. Monroe Clayton will hold a Brownfield board meeting at 8 p m to plan for the West Texas Area Council meeting in Abilene on March 30.

County to Elect Two Trustees April 7

County School Trustees will be elected April 7 by Terry County voters. Precinct 1 and Precinct 2 each elect a trustee. Petitions ask to place F A Wilson Meadow druggist on Prec 2 ballot and H H Harred Route 5 farmer on Prec 1. Elections coincide with Meadow Union Wellman and Brownfield district trustee polls.

Fertility Of Soil To Be Discussed

A soil fertility meeting is set for Monday at 7 30 p m in the Legion Hall. Western Grain and Farm Star sponsor with Dr Ivan C Miles of Little Rock Ark chief agronomist for Olin Mathieson. The talk covers fertilizer use on cotton and milo to boost production. Free coffee donuts and soft drinks. Farm Labor Day Aims To Ease Shortage In Terry County

The Texas Employment Commission schedules a farm labor day in 121st District Court to unite farm operators with job seekers. A second event is planned for March 21 at the same place with more workers from Brownfield and nearby areas. Letters have gone out to operators about the program.

Brownfield public schools Textbook Committee will present selections to the Board of Education on March 19 after reviewing titles on a state approved list. Army enlists two Terry youths for three years

Alvin Thomas Frazier son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie T Frazier Route 1 and Virgil Lonnie Allen son of Virgil Alfred Allen 1018 North Second enlisted for three years in the Army. Both are in eight weeks basic training at Fort Ord California and will return home on 14 day leaves. They were enlisted by SFC Bill Jones local Army recruiter and counselor.

Cattle feeding program to be discussed in Terry

A March 26 information session in The Legion Hall will explore cattle feeding in Terry and West Texas. Texas Tech professor John Baumgardner will speak, joined by a Terry panel including Jim Foy and others, with a meal served at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through five sponsoring institutions.
