Brownfield rebates rise as statewide checks soar
Brownfield's one percent sales tax rebates show a strong jump in early 1986 with $101,237 for the first two months, up 13 percent from 1985. February alone totaled $75,616 vs $67,026 in February 1985, while statewide rebates reached $131.1 million across 1,017 cities, Houston receiving $21.3 million. Other area towns including Andrews, Morton, Lamesa and Seagraves reported double digit increases year to date, reflecting a broad rise in local sales tax rebates.
