Power outages spark transformer issue on shaded Oaks area

Wagner described a brief outage on the south side of Brownfield due to a primary underground short in the 1200 block of Shady Oaks. The break tripped a breaker affecting Shady Oaks Howell and Casa Linda, with repairs and refeed from another direction taking 45 minutes to 90 minutes. A second transformer burned last week on South Howell, affecting six homes. The utility plans to replace the underground cable, leaving the old in place and digging a new trench, with outages lasting 10 to 15 minutes during the refeed. The pattern concentrates in the southeast part of town, prompting frustration among residents.
