County approves pay raise and honors long-time farmers

Terry County commissioners approved a 10 percent pay increase for county employees starting July 1 and accepted a 66 thousand dollar Manpower Program. Commissioner White announced a Family Land Heritage program honoring farming families with land in use since 1874 or earlier, requiring 10 acres and annual agricultural revenue of 50 dollars or more.

Old Farmers May Seek Low Yield Payments at ASC Office

Farmers with low wheat yields due to adverse weather must bring production evidence to the ASC office for qualification. Harvested acreage must be inspected before plowing stubble, with cotton and grain sorghum also eligible. Measuring service remains available at the ASC office though the Stockton office will be closed Thursday July 4.
