Ensign Lyle Shelton Starts Advanced Flight Training
Ensign Lyle Shelton son of Postmaster and Mrs. Joe Shelton reports May 16 for advanced flight training at Cabaniss Field Corpus Christi. He will complete about 50 hours of instrument training in the T 25B trainer during the first phase of his tour. After five months of intensive study he will receive Navy flight wings and be assigned to a squadron as a pilot. Shelton graduated from Brownfield High School in 1950 and earned a B S in petroleum engineering from Texas Tech in 1955.

Union School Exes At Annual Meeting Sunday
More than 160 attended the second annual gathering Sunday of Union High School exes in The Party House. From the group were chosen the 1957-58 officers: Darrell Lewis president, Bob Luker vice-president, and Mars. R. L. Lewis secretary treasurer. The reunion next year will be held on June 4. Guests were registered from Fort Worth, Lubbock, California, Fort Sumner New Mexico, Portales New Mexico, and several other cities.

Farmers May File For 3-Cent Fuel Tax Refund
Terry County farmers may file claims for the three-cent federal tax on gasoline used for farming during the 1957 fiscal year starting July 1. Claims are on Form 2240 and may be submitted July 1 to Sept. 30. Only one form per user. A copy and instruction sheet will be mailed to the 1956 claimants. The agent’s office will have limited supplies of Form 2240 and revised publication 308 for new users of farm fuels.
