Blackstock praises CRP benefits for family land
Terry County Soil Conservationist Duane Moss says the CRP now covers 25 percent of Terry County cropland, about 119700 acres, limiting signup dates. Golda Blackstock and family own a half-section northwest of Brownfield enrolled since 1987, resting land for ten years to restore nutrients while earning CRP payments. The program provides soil protection, grass cover, and wildlife habitat, notably for quail and pheasants, amid past dust storms.
