Joe Moreno of 1211 South Std promotes cactus as a nutritious food once scorned in the United States. He has eaten cactus for forty years, transplanted wild cacti to his yard, and experiments with a stickerless cross bred variety. Cactus leaves can be boiled fried steamed or canned and even used with eggs pork or beef while the prickly pear fruit yields candy and jelly.
Large crowd tours the Kendrick Memorial Library following a remodeling, with about 250 residents attending a Sunday open house.
