In a three hour Brownfield High Library session the school board approved five new teachers including Evelyn Washington Bernice Benson Wheatley second and third grades and high school instructors Jerry English Harold Blackburn and William Fancher. Resignations were accepted for Ruby Lee Jones and Barbara Umphres. A called budget meeting was set for July 1 with the 400 page budget to be shown July 8. The board discussed annuities for teachers and approved insurance plans.

Routine police blotter notes steady four days
City police answered 43 routine calls and had minor activity. The Terry County sheriff’s office reported similar levels. Mrs Darlene Powell reported $25 missing from her home last Saturday night. Patrols handled two minor accidents, four drunkenness arrests, and family disturbance calls. Deputies arrested Willis KR Williams and Nola Williams for check violations released to Lubbock, Jose Alejandro Davila for probation revocation, and one for drunkenness.
