Special ceremonies will close the Babe Ruth League season on June 30 with coronation of 1967 Babe Ruth Queen Linda er. Each team names a queen who sold season tickets. Cubs’ Cindy Graves is Cubs queen. Red Sox Queen Judy Briscoe. Cardinals Dana Brookshire. Yankees Carol Denison. Pirates Pam Moore. Pattie Pendleton chosen as another junior queen. All-Star team for district honors to be named then.

Bill McAlister Speaks To Lions on Vietnam War Views

Radio personality Bill McAlister of KSEL addressed the Lions Club discussing U S policy in Vietnam. He cited Sino Vietnam war dynamics and naval activity in the Gulf of Tonkin while urging political climate support for South Vietnam. Doug Cox led a club meeting with guests from Lamesa to Brownfield.

Beck Seeks Loyalty Day Parade Entries in Brownfield

Citizens invited to join the Loyalty Day Parade in Brownfield at 10 a.m. on July 4 spearheaded by Raymond Beck. Participants may enter on foot, in autos, floats, horseback, or bicycles with patriotic decorations. A 15 minute program on the courthouse square will feature speakers, songs, and a flyover by Reese Air Force Base jets. A final planning meeting is set for June 26 at 5 30 p.m. in the General Telephone division office.

Water Inc Dues Set Says John J Kendrick

Water Inc laid out a first year budget target and set annual memberships to 25 dollars for all members with per acre dues for landowners and farmers. John J Kendrick of Brownfield, president, announced the new nonprofit formed May 24 with over 1300 people from West Texas Eastern New Mexico and the Oklahoma Panhandle meeting in Lubbock to organize and support existing agencies.

Accidents Continue To Plague Officials

Weather watches and accidents topped local law enforcement activity with multiple wrecks reported in the city. Incidents included a 1959 Chevrolet driven by Lavrene Reinhardt and a 1960 Ford driven by Eddie Felts, both damaged but with no injuries. Additional crashes occurred at Fir and Repoto and Ave B and Tate, resulting in no critical injuries. Police booked Bobby Keith for drunken in public charges but released him after fines.

Moonlight Sale Plan by Local Merchants

Members of the Terry County Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee met to finalize the Moonlight Madness Sale. Jim Bayless led the session as chairman with plans for participating businesses to stay open 7 to 10 p.m. Prizes and standout bargains were promised, plus a telephone reminder to residents and a loud speaker truck. Brownfield Jaycees will run a concession on the square during the three hour event.

Boy Scout Troop 185 Offers Flag Service In City

Boy Scout Troop 185, in cooperation with Troop 785, offers flag display service for Brownfield businesses. Staff will place and remove flags at sunrise and sunset on ten designated holidays, with a yearly fee of 8 dollars. Residents may sign up via Don Osborn, scoutmaster.
