Funeral services set for Mrs Ray Brownfield 82

Long time resident Mrs Ray Doll Brownfield 82 dies at home June 13 after illness. Services Monday June 16 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev Crow officiating. Burial Terry County Memorial Cemetery. She born November 10 1887 in McLennan County moved to Terry County in 1902. Survived by son Dirg Gen Brownfield Arlington West Virginia sister Bit Copeland Brownfield four grandchildren.

New Device Promises Breathalyzer Use by Patrols

Texas Highway Patrolmen will rely on Breathalyzer readings under Senate Bill No 74 replacing blood tests for intoxication in arrests. Hospital district notes include soil test payment, 10 percent fee increase for Physicians Pathology, and indigent care limits to within district boundaries. New typewriter bids approved for four IBM machines, with budget discussions slated for July.

Terry County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Opens With Downtown Parade

Plans are set for the Terry County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo starting with a downtown parade at 5 p.m. next Thursday after noon June 19. More than a dozen visiting Posses and riding clubs along with floats will join the procession through town to mark the three day event. Rodeo performances run nightly 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with Red Whatley Co of Crosbyton providing stock.

Last Rites Today For C. Buchanan

Funeral services for Claud Buchanan, 57, will be held at 3 p m today at the First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Frank Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton. Buchanan was dead on arrival at a Crosbyton hospital.

Highway Patrol Reports One Death in May

The Texas Highway Patrol investigated five rural highway accidents in Terry County during May. One death, five injuries, and property damage estimated at $1,620 resulted from these crashes. Through May 1969, Terry County records 31 accidents with five fatalities and 16 injuries, totaling about $31,290 in property damage.

Trustees Will Meet Monday In Brownfield ISD

Brownfield Independent School District trustees will meet at 7 30 p m Monday in the Colonial Heights library. Bids for high school cafeteria remodeling and library expansion will be opened. The meeting will cover summer building projects and paving program with reports from Superintendent W O Caraway Business Manager James Willis and Curriculum Director Dr Dan Craver. One resignation and one employment application are on the agenda.

Plans Formed for Terry County Chamber Drive

About 20 directors and Red Coats of the Terry County Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture met at George Weiss home for a hambuger cookout to plan the annual membership drive starting Wednesday June 18. W A Dub Leigon chairs the drive and pairs will contact each business through July 1. In 1968 the chamber gained 78 new members, lifting total membership to about 300.

Reverend Robert Metzger Becomes New Pastor at First United Methodist

The young candidate and aspiring physicist Rev. Robert T. Metzger has taken duties as the new pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Brownfield. Metzger arrives from Elmwood West and is now serving in his twenty third year as a minister.
