The Man Who Owned Texas and Other Texas Tales
An illustrated exploration notes Dr John Charles Beales English physician-turned empresario who claimed vast Texas lands from the Rio Grande to the Nueces River. Despite colonizing efforts near Presidio and a Dolores settlement, crop failures and conflict doomed the venture. Also covered are Airville’s lack of airport and a historic Corsicana Texarkana game feat. Traveling Texas discusses Southmost as a non-existent town area along Brownsville roads.
