Former Resident Addresses Terry County Heritage Museum Board

Mrs. Bob Young, Midland museum associate and Brownfield native, spoke at Terry County Heritage Museum board meeting outlining concepts for the new museum to open tentatively on June 29. County Employees To Receive Raise In Terry County

Terry County commissioners recommended a pay raise for county workers averaging more than 500 dollars yearly. The plan, proposed by Commissioner John L. Johnson and seconded by Harvey Smith, would lift annual salaries from 442,428.60 to about 486,671.46, a ten percent rise. The measure, not covering extra help or pool staff, goes to the June 24 agenda alongside a 5.5 percent budget uptick for the South Plains Health Clinic.

Local Lads Attend Boys State in Austin

Six Brownfield and Meadow area youths joined 872 high school lads at the thirty-fourth annual American Legion Boys State at the University of Texas in Austin. The program teaches civic leadership as youths register by party and plan to visit the Capitol for a one day stint in office.

Equalization Board Schedules Public Hearing in Brownfield

Brownfield Equalization Board will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday June 25 in the city council chambers for its annual public hearing. Tax assessor-collector Stanley Miller states assessment equals 35 percent of full value at 1.30 per $100. The board met June 3 to organize with Lal Copeland as chairman and Ed Hill as vice chairman and secretary. others are Carrol Collier Bob Dumas Bill Swaringen and Ken Jones.
