Brownfield Optimist Club held its weekly gathering at the Party House with Major Taylor presenting a film on highway hazards. Taylor will transfer to Bay Town and Phil Porter was elected to succeed him as vice president for the coming year. Installation of officers is set for 7 30 p m Thursday at the Party House in a joint meeting with members and their wives.

The Brownfield Boys Club will open Thursday for the summer using 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Wednesdays and Sundays. Three small fires drew Brownfield Fire Department response on Thursday. At 401 East Broadway the garage rear blaze at Bill McGowan’s residence caused little damage. Charlie Price Western Auto Store saw a short in wiring with minimal impact. A furnace short at 1301 East Reppto prompted a night check with slight damage reported.
