Brownfield man charged with DWI after accident

A 23 year old Brownfield man Juan Jose Valenzuela is charged with D W I driving without a license and without insurance after a near head on collision on Main Street at 11 p.m. His Buick crossed the center line and collided with a Ford van driven by Harold Wayne Bennett of Floydada. Both vehicles damaged. Valenzuela and his family were taken to BRMC. Bond set at 5000. Bennett reportedly suffered broken legs and was also taken to BRMC. The incident followed reports of harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in Brownfield over the weekend and an arson attempt on a bush at 507 N A. Also reported was theft of a circular saw and wood paneling from a North 2nd Street residence valued around 300.

County food bank program explained in Terry County

The Terry County Commissioners approved using a vacant commodities building for a county food bank run by a committee led by Denton Bates Sonny Martinez and Anna Torrez working with Community Action Program Levelland. The plan targets low income residents with donated groceries, no county cost, and two months to start with volunteers overseeing the operation and a $500 repair estimate.

Terry Cancer Chapter Sets Date for Summer Tennis Meet

The Terry County Chapter of the American Cancer Society sponsors a summer tennis tournament to raise funds for cancer research.
