Brownfield Council Accepts Generator Repair Bid Amid Prep For CDBG Hearing

Brownfield City Council accepted a $46,164 bid from Southwest Electric of Oklahoma City plus $875 per coil for repair of a generator damaged in a lightning storm. If all 30 coils require repair, total could reach $71,214. Other bids ranged up to $107,338. The panel also held a public hearing for the community development block grant program and discussed annual funding. City Manager Jake Geron said repairs would start in the coming weeks and noted insurance reps, though late, appeared willing to pay the claim. The meeting included a CDBG update as Brownfield enters year three of a $1.5 million federal grant cycle.
