Brownfield Chamber directors reviewed a proposed 2,865.62 expenditure plan for the Buy It In Brownfield campaign submitted by Chuck Price and the committee. The budget covers bumper stickers banners signs and advertising with funding possible from chamber funds. Two donations 50 and 250 were noted.

FmHA Loans Aid Drought Stricken Areas

The Farmers Home Administration offers loans and grants to rural drought affected areas for water facility projects. Eligible applicants in designated drought disaster areas may deepen wells drill new ones extend lines and develop water sources. Applications due September 30 1977 with project completion by November 30 1977.

Referendum Hot Line Established for Beef Referendum

The Texas Beef Development Taskforce launched a toll free line 1 800 682 4106 to answer cattle producers questions about the beef referendum Registration runs June 6 to 17 at nearly 2 000 county ASCS offices with voting July 5 to 15 Producers must register by June 17 The referendum could fund 30 cents per hundred in value for beef research education and promotion.

Brownfield okays 4 percent hotel tax to aid tourism

Brownfield City Council approved a four per cent single-night motel tax effective Sept 1 1977. Revenue goes to the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce to promote tourism with city oversight on fund distribution. TDHR found mixed water quality but approval due to river well water blend. sanitarian monitors quarterly samples and may notify customers if standards fail.

Bids and Plans Approved At Brownfield School Board Meeting

The Brownfield School Board approved plans for an auxiliary high and middle school gym and renovation of the Intermediate School, accepted a cost plus bid from Billy Moore Construction for the Intermediate media center, and approved paneling bids from Georgia Pacific at 7.20 per sheet. They also awarded a $2,200 bid from O B Mitchell for gym floor sanding and resurfacing and agreed to purchase a Ford tractor after three years of leasing. They plan to bid two maintenance pickup trucks.
