Quanah Manager Becomes Brownfield Chamber Leader

Rev Cockrell Takes First Methodist Post in Brownfield
Rev Alby J. Cockrell was named pastor of the First Methodist Church of Brownfield at the Northwest Texas Conference session in Lubbock. He succeeds Rev J Loyd Mayhew and will preach his first sermon this Sunday. Cockrell, born May 4 1914 in Westover Texas, has served multiple charges and holds leadership roles in Evangelism and Ministerial Training. He is married to Nila Belle Prickett, with three daughters Marsha Nancy and Connie.

Local Summer Rec Program Opens at Brownfield High
A summer recreation program supervised by school coaches begins tomorrow at Brownfield High gym. Activities run 7 to 9 pm four nights weekly in July, including weights, isometrics, basketball for 6th to 8th graders, high school and above, volleyball, and tennis on the high school courts 6 to 8 pm. All ages invited. east gym door is the only entry.

Load of Wheat Reaches Western Grain In Terry County
Terry County's first wheat load of the season arrived Tuesday around 11 am at Western Grain and Farm Store in Brownfield. The grain grown by R. B. Askew on the Crede Gore farm eight miles east, was combined by Royce Irvin. The load weighed 12 320 pounds with 12.85 moisture and 6.5 pounds per bushel. Manager Joe Christian reported the receipt.
