BISD reviews a proposed 1986 87 budget totaling 7 565 339 with a 68 cent tax rate and 97 percent collection. The plan forecasts 7 383 089 in revenues and a 182 250 deficit bridged by a 1.4 million surplus. The board may raise rates up to 73.336 cents without a hearing.
Terry County Commissioners, in regular session, approved a bid from Gifford Electric of Lubbock to upgrade the Terry County Airport lighting. The project, previously bid at 32,597.49, includes new wiring and runway lights. A Texas Aeronautics Commission grant will cover two thirds, leaving about 10,865 for the county and the rest for the state. Commissioner Bill Keesee said the upgrade is needed due to increased aircraft activity and night flights.
Seventy youngsters, boys and girls, tried Gillham Pond Saturday in Terry County Parks and Recreation's first fishing tourney.
