Rust Named As Texas Coach Of The Year

James Rust, Brownfield High School athletic director and head football coach, is hailed as Coach of the Year at the Texas High School Coaches Association convention in Dallas. He moved to Brownfield this summer from Pittsburg, Texas, and earlier earned Class AAA Coach of the Year from Fair-Knit Manufacturing Company of Waco for leading Pittsburg to a perfect 15-0 season and a Class AAA state championship.

Seagraves Jaycees Softball Tournament Winners Named

On Saturday July 25 the Seagraves Jaycees Softball Tournament saw two Brownfield teams place top two. Dynasty captained a dominant run defeating all rivals including Orange Crush Seminole 6-2 and First National Bank Brownfield 13-8 and 21-6 to take first. Brownfield First National Bank finished second after a 15-9 win over Seagraves.
