County Considers Caliche Runway Help For CAF Air Show

Terry County commissioners discussed aiding the Confederate Air Force Panhandle Squadron with 1000 feet of caliche along Beeings airport runway to create parking pads for 27 World War II era aircraft for the August 28 Brownfield show. John Forburger and Curtis Christopher said the event would feature more WWII type planes than any CAF show in the area this summer and compared it to a recent San Angelo display. The panel approved the caliche request, though officials debated whether runway renovations would be completed before August. County Judge Herbert Cheshir indicated uncertainty on timing.

Motorcycle Chase Ends in Patrol Collision in Brownfield

A 17 year old Brownfield man led officers on a morning chase after an unregistered motorcycle was spotted in the 1300 block of Tohoka Rd. Patrolman Roy Rice signaled a stop, the pursuit ended with heavy damage to a police car and a sheriff's department vehicle.

Plans For 1982 Harvest Festival In Brownfield

Plans are underway for Brownfield’s annual Harvest Festival set for October 16 at Coleman Park amphitheater. The queen contest features five Brownfield girls competing for a $600 scholarship, with points from ticket sales 30 percent, talent show 30 percent, and parade floats 40 percent. Queen winner gets $600, runner up $400, third $300, others $200. Queen mother is Jan Hale. The 1983 Harvest Festival theme is Country Fling and Fiesta.
