Terry officials seek jail guidance from State standards panel

Five county leaders and a consultant traveled to Austin to meet with the Texas Jail Standards Commission about Terry County jail plans. They discussed consolidating jail spaces to save money, adjusting cell layouts from single to multi bed design, and a 96 bed facility with separate women's block and padded cells. A public meeting on the facility was postponed and additional trips to Austin were planned to refine blueprints and staffing estimates.

19th Annual Terry County Fair Opens Oct 6 In Levy Park

The 1994 Terry County Fair runs October 6 to 8 at the National Guard Armory. Exhibits in 10 departments compete for ribbons and $20 Brownfield Bucks incentives. Prize drawings, pet show, and shuttle service to Coleman Park accompany judging on Friday and public viewing on Saturday.

Brownfield Municipal Power & Light relied on its wholesale supplier Southwestern Public Service amid limited surplus power to meet surging loads. Water utilities also faced strain during the period as cooling needs persisted.

1994 Terry County Rodeo Plans Kickoff July 28

The 1994 Terry County Rodeo runs July 28 to 30 with daily 8 p.m. performances and a July 30 parade at 1 p.m. Events include bull riding team roping ribbon roping calf roping bareback riding bull dogging girls barrel race and calf ribbon race for kids. Dangerous Destiny performs each night at the Terry County Barn.
